GREED'S RUINING WATCHING SPORTS
I don't like that there's so much streaming apps nowadays.
It's the World Cup.
My house does not have an antenna so watching through the national television channel is out of question.
My only hope are the streaming apps. I don't wanna name drop anything so I shall refer these streaming apps as A and B. I should've realized A and B were state-owned sooner. Anyways
When I learned that the streaming rights for this World Cup edtion have been acquired by #$321213%, I can't help but sigh. Another app to download, subscribed, and the experience, unless it's Vidio, is bound to be s#%&!@. Yes I shall name drop Vidio because they've FIGURED IT OUT. So right from the beginning, I had my expectations as low as possible but as it turns out, I've been quite generous with my expectations. BECAUSE
app A
I paid 85k (~5 USD) for a 90 days World Cup package (neat!). BUT the app keeps thinking I haven't paid YET WHEN I HAVE PAID. A pop-up appears telling me "Oops. Please buy our package through this button!" Then I click the button but guess what? I'VE ALREADY PAID FOR THE DAMN THING.
EDIT: Somebody finally has knocked sense to whoever is in charge because the app has finally recognized my subscription but the server's down rn :/
EDIT2: App A works now. Bless them souls. But my point still stands.
app (actually not an app but a website) B
Because I have never made an account (duh), I had to sign up which entails typing my email, phone number, setting up the password, and more importantly complete the whole OTP code ordeal. I NEVER RECEIVED AN OTP CODE NOT EVNE ONCE.
My biggest qualm with this entire thing is: you had 4 YEARS TO PREPARE. HOW COULD YOU MESS THIS UP
Another similar example:
app C
I look back to the time when a company took over the national streaming rights for badminton. Their app was.. meh. It's tolerable. Accessing from the TV is a bit of a pain in the ass but it's doable. What I disliked most was their insistence keeping local commentators. You know the comments were going to be unbiased especially when [REDACTED]. I'll give it to them, at least the trouble I had with app A never happened in C.
When the rights ended and returned to Vidio, I never looked back.
In the end, it all works out. But why does it all have to be so frustrating? The one most disadvantaged from all this are the old folks (I mean when their grandsons/daughters or sons/daughters are away), the technologically clueless, who probably account a huge chunk of the sports audience. Totally not saying this because I have to keep explaining my dad how to login.
Of course, all this could've been avoided if the house had an antenna.
Anyways, World Cup.
I'm rooting for Team England. Argentina defending their title would be a crazy feat. It's going to be (already) fun.
