a bit about work

Dinner with this man's, friend of my parents', family. Every time we meet his family, it's always split, naturally, into two factions - the females and the males. Without a choice, I'd have listen to the dads talk. Every time they talk, it'd be always about work.

This time was no different but the energy from the man that day was different. He'd just moved onto a different company with a higher role - far higher from the previous company he worked at. A company which he, God knows for how long he talked about it, suffered terrible headache and stress from. One only needs to look at his hair to confirm this: fully white with bald spots and he's barely fifty!

So this career move came as a needed refreshment, he says; his face really glowed that day.

I'm aware there's a survivorship bias when he says (of course you'd say that, one could say) despite all the troubles he had to went through, he regrets none of it. It built character, he said. He suddenly became philosophical, he felt enormous grace: divine intervention. That quite impressed me.

Kinda boggles my mind that when you get to work, it can become what your whole life is about. I hope when I become big, my career, job, wouldn't be the thing I'd be talking about all the time (maybe that would work if what I do is what I'm enormously passionate about).

Anyways, after numerous deliberations, striking a balance is essential.
